Duration: 85 mins
Year: 2024
Documentary

Stardust: A Story of Love and Architecture tells the story of visionary architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown. It is a journey across continents and decades, into the uncompromising world of architecture and into a love story and creative partnership that lasted more than half a century—one of the great, untold love stories of the 20th century. For 50 years, Venturi and Scott Brown shared a life marked by deep tenderness, sharp wit, and intellectual joy. Together, they also ignited a quiet revolution in architecture, challenging the rigid dogmas of modernism by embracing complexity, symbolism and the lessons of the everyday landscape.

Filmed with extraordinary intimacy by their son, Jimmy Venturi, Stardust: A Story of Love and Architecture invites viewers to see the world through their eyes. The film unfolds as a road movie, traveling to the places that mattered most to them—Rome, Venice, Paris, London, Philadelphia and Las Vegas—while revealing their witty, subversive way of thinking, their struggles within a male-dominated profession (including the well-known Pritzker Prize controversy) and the enduring partnership that reshaped ideas of architectural collaboration.
